Sailing Sam 12.11.2013
On the 25 October Ramsgate hosted an exciting Walk and Talk event with World Sailing Champion, Sam Brearey.

Miles Bar proved to be the perfect venue to host the live Twitter Q&A session and at 2.30 Rock Doc, Dr Alasdair Bruce and celebrated responsible travel journalist, Catherine Mack joined Sam to experience first-hand one of Active Ramsgate’s brand new walking routes from Ramsgate to Broadstairs.

Despite carrying a back injury from the recent World Championships, Sam held the floor at the event and led the first of four live Q&A sessions.

Sam said: “The 25th November and I was back in Ramsgate supporting the Active Ramsgate campaign. It is a great initiative promoting some of the fantastic activities along the coastline and further inshore as well as all the incredible and unique businesses on offer in the area.

“Friday was spent at the lovely Miles Bar on the waterfront for a Q&A session with those there and on Twitter, multi tasking!! It was great to have some good questions come in about the Kent coastline, and all sorts of topics.

“After the Q&A session at Miles we headed off on a walk hosted by the Rock Doc. The weather wasn’t perfect but that didn’t stop the hearty bunch setting off to explore and discover the coastline and all the history that goes with it. The walk was made even more exciting by the lovely Catherine Mack from Ethical Traveller joining us. Catherine travels the British Isles in an eco friendly manner, exploring all the exciting things on offer.

“It was a great day, and thanks must go to Miles Bar for hosting us. Looking forward to the next thing Active Ramsgate has to throw at us!”

The event was a tremendous way to showcase how much the #ActiveRamsgate initiative has to offer local residents, businesses and holiday makers and more opportunities to get involved in and inspired by are already being planned, so visit the Active Ramsgate pages and make sure you don’t miss them.
