Key Updates - Radford House & Custom House Committee

Home / About Ramsgate / News / Key Updates - Radford House & Custom House Committee

04 October 2021

  • It is hoped that planning permission from Thanet District Council (TDC) for change of use and the proposed development work at Radford House (the old Fire Station), will be received soon; TDC has confirmed that no further information is required. These applications were originally submitted in September 2020.

  • The newly appointed Town Clerk has now spoken with the Architectural Heritage Fund and the Council’s architect, and is working hard to catch up and map out the next stages of work to be undertaken. In order to ensure the greatest chance of securing a grant for the project to restore Radford House and turn it into a community centre.

  • An update for the community volunteers who are interested in being part of the Radford House Working Group will soon be arranged; if anyone with relevant skills is interested in being part of the Group they should contact town.clerk@ramsgatetc.org.uk.

  • A number of activities are currently underway to ensure the Council’s due diligence in relation to The Custom House and Radford House; including new health & safety paperwork, condition surveys and hire agreements. To safeguard these properties and make sure management of the properties is of the highest standard.

This is not a summary of everything covered at this meeting, please see the official Minutes for the legal record of the meeting. The above is intended to provide a snapshot of matters that may be of particular interest to residents.
