The new book “The Royal Harbour of Ramsgate” by Janet Munslow is now available.

This new 68-page book covers over 200 years of the history of the harbour, which to this day, is still the only Royal Harbour in the UK. The book contains a range of colour and black and white photographs and original commissioned artwork. Subject matter covers the Harbour’s history and includes; building techniques, the fishing industry, trade, leisure, assistance at sea, lifeboats, naval activities, and of course, the Little Ships’ role in the evacuation of troops in World War 2 from the beaches and waters of Dunkirk.

The book is endorsed by local, award winning actor Brenda Blethyn OBE and makes a great ‘coffee table’, easy to read, reference book, full of historical information. The book would also make a great gift for all lovers of Ramsgate and for those interested in a range of subjects that encompass the UK’s unique role in offering not only a ‘safe harbour’ to ships but also the development of our Harbour’s role over the last 200 years.

If you live in the UK you can purchase the book via the store. Visit our website and click on the ‘Store’ tab – www.ramsgate2021.co.uk
