Starlite Entertainers Productions brings you The Royal Harbour of Ramsgate 200th Anniversary Festival

The “Royal Harbour of Ramsgate 200th Anniversary Festival” started 5 years ago when the Starlite Entertainers Productions and the Ramsgate Events Group decided to stage this very ambitious Festival. To make it work, we brought in the help and support of the town’s twenty plus groups of Event organisers.

We asked Ramsgate Town Council to join us; Ramsgate and Broadstairs Sea Cadet Corps; The Thanet Community Development Trust (now known as the Thanet Trust); PCSO John Litchfield with his Sea Safety Event and the Ramsgate Costumed Walks. To add to this, all the many things that we have lost due to the Coronavirus, that includes boats of the Little Ships, who were to celebrate 80 years in 2020 and the Bucket and Spade Run, Most of us go to an annual Pantomime, we have that too - Oh Yes We Do - Gordon Clarkson’s “Simple Simon & the Golden Goose”.

The Starlite Entertainers Productions were set up almost 40 years ago to give young and old performers, an opportunity to gain stage experience, to give the theatre goers some good entertainment and to raise funds for good causes. All of this was achieved with the support of the many theatre, dance and drama groups in Thanet. Doing this we raised over £250,000 for many Local & National Charities and good Causes. Starlite Entertainers and the Ramsgate Events Group have staged more than 1,000 shows and events during their 40 years.

This will probably be the greatest achievement, to get various parts of the community working together, as we all did in times gone past. To make this Festival the biggest event in several years, we also bring in the RNLI, the National and Southern Area Sea Cadet Corps, plus the local ATC and Army Cadet Groups. Add to this the Ramsgate Scouts and Guides and you have the makings of a great Family Fun Weekend. As if this was not enough, add in a Traditional Seaside Funfair and the Royal Navy, who are bringing two ships of their Fleet and a Submarine Simulator. To be part of this event you can be a Military or Victorian Reenactor, Children’s Fancy Dress or take part in our many competitions in art, photography or writing.

Over the years Starlite Entertainers have brought many theatrical successes to Ramsgate, there was the Red Rose Day Show to celebrate St. George’s Day; The Christmas Cracker Variety Show for 40 years; supplying Acts for the Ramsgate Christmas Light Switch On, Red Nose Day and other National Fundraisers and much more.

We could go on as there is much more. We do hope that all of you that have supported us for so many years, join us for the biggest event that we have ever staged. A truly family fun event aimed at all the family. Enjoy.
