Ellington Park Bandstand Update

The Ellington Park Bandstand is due to open mid-July, weather and covid permitting, so keep your eyes open for advertising.

The Café is as carbon neutral as possible, with solar panels and air-sourced heat extract pumps for the under-floor heating and hot water. While electricity is needed to run the extractor fan, the system uses renewable heat from the environment and working temperatures as low as -15C, creating large amounts of CO2 savings.

The food and drink is ethically and locally sourced, so no plastic cups, glasses, etc.

We have created two new jobs – Amy and Tara are job-sharing the manager’s role. We are hoping to be able to employ a park warden when funds allow in the future.

We are looking to have a Market Square next to the café with monthly markets, if popular, they may be more often.

An activity officer will be engaged on a three-year contract to encourage public engagement with Ellington Park.

There have been 67 trees planted so far, with many more to come. We are hoping to have the Autumn landscaping finished too.

Events are already being booked – Sunday August 8, Ukulele; August 17 – 27, Screaming Alley Burlesque evening; August 28, Festival of Sound.
