23 March 2021

Today the nation will mark the anniversary of the first national lockdown, coming together for a National Day of Reflection.

It has been one of the most challenging and difficult twelve months, which has touched all of our lives. However, there are early signs of the pandemic being past its peak and hope for a return to more normal and brighter times ahead.

Tragically and so sadly, 126,000 people have died across the UK during that time. So many people have been unwell due to the pandemic and have lost family members. Every life lost has been devastating for the people left behind.

We will be joining the nation to observe a minutes silence at 12noon as a mark of respect to those who lost their lives to COVID-19.

A further minute's silence will be held at 8pm. At this time, people are invited to stand outside with a light - be it a candle, a torch or even your phone. We hope people will come together to "light up the night" to show their support to people going through a bereavement, or to remember someone who has died.
