News / The Royal Harbour of Ramsgate – 200th Anniversary Festival Year
After four years working on the project, it is now time to bring the planning stages into action.
The first part of our celebration year starts with the three Royal Standard Flag Raising Ceremonies that we have carried out for 24 years now, with the first of 2021 being January 29, followed by July 19 and August 12 at 9am at the Town Flag Pole, Wellington Crescent. Please join us for these special events. It is very unusual to see a Royal Standard without a member of the Royal Family present, we are so lucky to have this honour.
Our main event for 2021 is the festival itself and that will take place from September 24 to 26. We are hoping for a Royal visit.
The event is being staged not just to promote our Royal Harbour, but is a celebration of the whole town and will be run by at least 20 different groups from Ramsgate, plus all the East Kent Sea Cadet Corps and all the county Carnival Courts and Teams of Marshalls. If you have already pledged support or if you wish to join this very energetic band of community event makers, please contact me as soon as possible using the details below. Although we are passing through some of the worst times ever, we have not held back and have booked so many attractions including a Tall Ship from the National Sea Cadet Corps, The Royalist. We have been promised two ships from the Royal Navy, RNLI Boat participation plus much more.
The Programme includes a two hour variety show in the style of TV's ‘This is Your Life’. The show will be called "The Royal Harbour of Ramsgate Gala Show", this will take place in our big top theatre on the Harbour. This will be the same venue that will be used for the festival banquet and further shows during the weekend. There will be a Drumhead Service when the Bronze Statue of HM King George IV is unveiled.
The full programme will be announced nearer the Festival.
