Ramsgate Neighbourhood Plan Update

Ramsgate Town Council is working with local residents on a Neighbourhood Plan for Ramsgate. The council received a grant from ‘Awards for All’ for an online survey run by community interest company, Commonplace. Results were on show at a drop-in event in November and can still be seen by visiting the links below.

Drawing on earlier consultations, our Commonplace site set out a vision for the future and identified four themes for our Neighbourhood Plan:

• Built Environment - Public spaces and where we live and work;
• Economic Environment - How you and the town make money;
• Natural Environment - Parks, gardens, squares and our coastline;
• Social Environment - Community space, education and health.

We advertised the survey as widely as we could and in just over two months it attracted over 4,500 contributions from local people aged from 9 to 90. There were lots of complaints about litter and dog fouling but the five things most people agreed would improve the town were:

• More community feeling
• Fewer empty buildings
• Better design and construction
• More local character
• More greenery.
