11 July 2013

The Town Council kept its promise and held a public meeting to hear concerns about the former Pleasurama site now known as the Royal Sands development.

Over 300 residents attended the meeting at Chatham House school hall on Monday 8th July.

The meeting heard from Thanet District Council Cabinet members, an officer from Thanet District Council and a representative from the Developer, SFP Ventures Ltd.

A full and frank exchange of knowledge and views were given on all sides and while it cannot be said that there was unanimity, some of the misconceptions that had been previously expressed had been laid to rest and the meeting confirmed that Ramsgate Town Council is as concerned as any other local organisation and will do its best to facilitate an outcome that benefits Ramsgate, above any other interest.

Matters move on now to the Thanet District Council Overview and Scrutiny Committee meeting where the public can deliver to that Committee questions on particular aspects of this matter.

Ramsgate Town Council wishes to see that progress is made on the matter and will continue to act and to lobby for the interests of Ramsgate within its remit as the principal voice for the Town.
