No Increase in Ramsgate Town Council Tax Precept

Ramsgate Town Council has just decided to maintain the level of precept at £27.45 per annum for a band D property.

This means a zero percent (0%) increase this year.

In spite of the difficulties placed before the Council, because of the Government’s Council tax benefit changes, RTC has absorbed a £4000 cut in income, while maintaining its service to the public.

The new budget is prudent, yet continues the good work that the Council commenced on its formation to assist the local economy, boost regeneration by attracting visitors to Ramsgate and make Ramsgate a good place to live and do business.

This year there is a lot to look forward to; as the new Town website will be ready in early spring, followed by some new town trails and a full calendar of Council sponsored events.

Cllr Richard Nicholson, Chair of Finance said;

“Despite the unwarranted cuts imposed by the Government we have all worked to ensure a responsible budget for the coming year. I am proud to say we are a ‘living wage council employer’ and RTC is spending more on decorative lighting for the town and increasing the budget for town improvements. We will continue to seek the best value for costs and services necessary whilst seeking to make all of Ramsgate an even better place to live in.”

The Council is showing that it is acting responsibly but with some flair and ingenuity in showing that your local council is doing its very best to make Ramsgate a better place for residents and visitors alike.
