Pupils from Ramsgate schools joined members of the town team and mayor Pat Moore on Tuesday for an official opening of the newly painted Augusta Steps.

The creation of the Rainbow Steps on Marina Esplanade was inspired by the work of Istanbul retired engineer Huseyin Cetinel who painted 200 steps in four days, spending $800 decorating the huge staircase in his hometown, pictures of which went viral as people from across the world came to see the artwork.
