BANK HOLIDAY RAMSGATE SKY RIDE SOLD OUT!

A free cycling event run by Sky and British Cycling has sold out in such a short space of time, organisers have had to put on a second event on the same day to cope with demand.

Active Ramsgate – a Ramsgate Town Council initiative delivered by Explore Kent to promote outdoor activities in and around Ramsgate – is responsible for hosting the guided group bike ride in conjunction with Sky – and as a keen supporter of the campaign, local TV presenter Kaddy Lee-Preston will be cycling the route – which takes place along sections of the Viking Coastal Trail.

Both rides will follow the same route, and will set off from Government Acre in Ramsgate on Saturday 24th August; the first – with Kaddy leading the group – will begin at 10am, and the second will depart at 2pm.

The 12 mile route is suitable for all abilities aged 8 and above, and will take in some of the stunning Thanet coastline, as well as local Ramsgate landmarks. For anyone interested in signing up to the second ride taking place in the afternoon, visit www.goskyride.com for more information.

The Sky Rides form part of the Summer Squall Festival taking place in Ramsgate over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The theme of the Festival is ‘rebellious elements’ and the Sky Rides too will be adopting that theme.

Peter Campbell from Ramsgate Town Council said: “We’re thrilled that Sky has responded to demand by adding on a second free Sky Ride. The planned route is popular with cyclists because of the beautiful views, and with the support of local celebrity Kaddy Lee-Preston, we’re not surprised at the response! Kaddy will also be appearing on the main stage at the Summer Squall Festival after the first cycle ride, so come along and see how she does!
