News / Pride of place for Ramsgate
A stunning new image of Ramsgate’s Royal Harbour will be enticing Londoners and visitors to the capital to visit Thanet as part of this year’s Kent Contemporary Campaign.
The beautiful twilight shot will be appearing on huge 48 sheet posters at London train stations and on cross-track posters on the London Underground. It will also feature on posters at Southeastern stations and on Eurotunnel Le Shuttle.
This is the third such image of Thanet commissioned for the Kent Contemporary campaign with Margate and Turner Contemporary at sunset and the chalk stacks of Botany Bay to have previously featured.
Leader of Thanet District Council and Cabinet Member for Tourism Cllr Iris Johnston said, “I’m delighted that this great image of Ramsgate now has pride of place at some of the capitals busiest travel hubs. Tourism is essential to Thanet’s local economy bringing in over £230 million to the district. Thanet has more images as part of the Kent Contemporary Campaign than any other destination contributing which demonstrates our recognition of this industry’s importance and also our on-going commitment to tourism.”
The Kent Contemporary Campaign is run by Visit Kent and their Chief Executive Sandra Matthews-Marsh comments, “The Kent Contemporary campaign aims to surprise and intrigue and, at the same time, challenge people’s perceptions of the Garden of England.
“Our research shows that our striking images are bringing more people out of London for a day out or short break. And they are also inspiring Kent people to explore other parts of their county.”
