A Ramsgate Town Council regeneration initiative, Active Ramsgate has received the backing of local TV presenter Kaddy Lee-Preston. The meteorologist, who regularly appears on BBC South East, will support the project over the next year, and will be appearing at various events over the forthcoming months.
The initiative, project managed by Explore Kent, is designed to support economic regeneration by promoting the area through its outdoor activities, such as walking, cycling, canoeing, golf and geocaching trails.
So, among other activities, Kaddy will be donning her walking boots to trek along the three Active Ramsgate walking trails, and digging out her GPS to go searching for online clues and treasure among the beautiful Isle of Thanet landscape.
One of her first appearances will be taking part in a Sky Ride event, which takes place in Ramsgate on 24 August. This guided cycle ride will depart from Government Acre at 10am, and places are limited, so do sign up quickly on the Sky Ride website www.goskyride.com, it’s free to take part and suitable for all abilities.
Kaddy Lee-Preston said of her appointment: “I’m thrilled to be supporting such a wonderful initiative, getting active outdoors is one of my great passions. I can’t think of a better way to get out and about and enjoy the stunning scenery and natural beauty our coastline has to offer”.
“I’m also looking forward to getting on my bike and taking part in the up and coming Sky Ride event, for those that want join me on the route, do sign up, and if you aren’t able, then please come along and support us along the way. We’ll need all the encouragement we can get, and I’ve got my fingers crossed for good weather, too!”
The Sky Ride event also coincides with the ‘Rebellious Elements’ Summer Squall festival taking place in Ramsgate over the whole August Bank Holiday weekend, and Kaddy will be appearing on stage following the Sky Ride.
