Brit-pop’s leftfield mouth-peice. The Auteurs front man and later the weirder but more brilliant Black Box Recorder, Luke continues to tirelessly reconfirm his reputation as one of the most prolific and idiosyncratic British songwriting talents.
For those that don’t know about Mr Haines… You have a few months to get up to speed…
With a career-spanning 4 disc retrospective – ‘Luke Haines Is Alive And Well And Living In Buenos Aires. Heavy Frenz, The Solo Years 1999 – 2017’
hitting the shelves on Sept 29th (Cherry Red Records), Luke is ready to hit the road. This live show will take the form of a combination of prose readings and live music, utilising his skills as a sardonic, verbose raconteur and lyrically-dextrous anti-hero.
Haines, while regularly releasing new musical material under a number of different projects, is also a much-celebrated writer, his memoirs, Bad Vibes – Britpop and My Part in It’s Downfall and Post Everything: Outsider Rock and Roll have cemented his place as one of the UK’s most critically innovative and cultural commentators.
As An Evening With Luke Haines this rare live performance will consist of a selection of book/prose readings interwoven amongst a live solo music set utilising a wide range of material from the early days of The Autuers, all the way through to his consistently compelling contemporary output. A whistle-stop journey through a unique musical and literary trajectory, an unmissable evening for fans of this very English pop anti-hero.
